All You Need To Know About Acid Washing

It’s important to understand what you're dealing with and the risks involved. You’ll know your pool needs an acid wash when the water starts looking dirty or takes on a greenish tint. While it’s possible to attempt an acid wash yourself, we don’t recommend it. Improper handling could damage your pool's plaster surface or even cause injury from the acid if not done carefully. Our Process To Sparkle Your Pool

First, we apply liquid chlorine directly to the algae (the greenish buildup), then thoroughly scrub the tiles with the chlorine. This process is repeated several times until the pool is fully drained and cleaned, ensuring all algae and debris are removed.
After draining the pool, we proceed with the acid-washing process, ensuring we wear full protective gear to safeguard ourselves from any potential harm or chemical exposure.
We carefully mix muriatic acid and water in the precise proportions before applying the mixture to the pool using a hose.
After applying water to the tiles, we then pour the acid mixture from the top, leaving it on the plaster for no more than 30 seconds. We quickly scrub and rinse the area to prevent the acid from damaging the plaster before moving on to the next section.
Once the acid wash is finished, we immediately neutralize the pool by removing any residue left at the bottom to prevent damage to the plaster. We do this by adding soda ash to the acid, then using a submersible pump to carefully remove all the mixture from the pool.
